other macro... (week 3)

not too chuffed about this, mandatory work in lecture, uninspired, boring lighting sucks

By Golly Gosh

I love macro! I think if I could base this whole project around macro I would.
Might try and sneak another week of macro shoots in there, maybe not using fruit this time, its fun but, well , I want to shoot something different with macro, see what I can achieve.

On another note we got to make a joiner and some stitching soon, not too phyced about it, emailed the chief executive of Truro Cathedral but no reply yet, still holding hopeful, will just have to get a telephone number and bother him that way.

Might do some landscapes this week, they look nice, but I don't know how I will link it with macro, sure I will fluke it some how.

Week 2

Raw Macro

So last week I chose to Isolate an object in a white space when shooting in macro, but this week I thought about how this artificial environment may not capture the essence of the object itself, the white may have had a more pristine look but I thought that objects in their own environment may have a different look.

So here are my five images, this time I shot a Kiwi. The feel of a kiwi made me wonder what the hairs would look like when magnified. Here are my five images, including shots of the inside, which I took when deciding to eat the Kiwi.

Week 1

This week I have been working around Macro photography and how with Macro Photography we can see things that the naked eye could never have seen before, for this week I have photographed Apple Seeds.

The reason I chose apple seeds was because of what they can become, it is incredible to think that all the energy to create something as large as a tree is held within the apple seed. But when humans/animals intervene these fragile seeds can be destroyed easily, and this is what i wanted to capture with Macro Photography, this is one of my first attempts at macro, enjoy.

More News On Infra Red

So took a bigger look into Infra Red last night and got in touch with Dean Bennici an artist who uses, makes and sells 120 EIR roll film, perfect for me as i prefer to use medium format.
Im putting a link to his website, and a blog about his work on the side bar as I feel they are both important to the advancement in this line of photography, more on this as it develops

Should be scanning those seeds in today aswell, maynot be photography but I can't help the fact that other students dont return extention tubes and macro lenses...

IM LATE!

YES I HAVE SLACKED SURPRISE SURPRISE!
But hey, I've got plans so that's OK!
Saw something pretty interesting called infra red other day, been looking into ILFORD SFX 200 infrared film. Apparently combined with a filter the effects are amazing, so possibly will be some work combined with that.
see link on the right had side about Ilfords release on this film.

BUT

as of tomorrow I'm going to be scanning in some hi-res apple pips! oh yeah! Gunna crush em. bite em, scratch em, whatever and then scan em in super duper magnified. See how that goes, and if all goes wrong I've always got....well not much, gunna have to be five images from that but I'm confident something good can come out of it!

Not wanting to play this game at the moment, due to lack of resources and money I am ill prepared for a shoot I wanted to do this weekend coming, probably have to cancel and try doing a different shoot. Sucks but I will try and find a different way to take pictures.

Possibly the Macro setting on my phone camera, most likely a terrible idea but we will see.
